Upcoming Programs
Throughout the year, the Bay Shore Historical Society sponsors educational programs of historic significance.  Programs are held on the third Thursday night of the month at 7:00 PM at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library  (except July).

January 17 – Janet Demarest will present “A Merry, Very Victorian Christmas” at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

February 21 – Angela Reich, Brightwaters resident, educator, and author will discuss her research of the south shore’s shipwrecks and sea captains in her preparation of the writing of her novel “Shipwreck of Hopes” at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

March 9  – Join Society members marching in the annual Bay Shore-Brightwaters St. Patrick’s Day Parade

March 21 – Researcher, educator, author and historian Chris Verga will speak about “Saving Fire Island from Robert Moses” at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

April 18 – Kevin Weicks, Landscape Curator, will present “Historic Landscapes at Bayard Cutting Arboretum” at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

May 16 – Maureen Dunn, Water Quality Scientist at Seatuck, will present “Half Shells for Habitat, the Oyster Shell Recovery Program” at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

May 27 – Join Society members marching in the annual Bay Shore-Brightwaters Memorial Day Parade

June 1 – Open House at the Gibson-Mack-Holt House located at 22 Maple Ave, Bay Shore from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. BBQ for members and guests 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

June 20 – Bill Bleyer, journalist, historian, researcher, and author will speak about “Little Known Facts of Long Island Maritime History”. His new book, “Long Island at Sea: A Maritime History”, will be available for signing at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

July 18 – Annual Dinner at Captain Bill’s at 5:30 PM –  Reservations Required

August 15 – Bill Shelley, renowned film archivist, historian and researcher, will present “More Films from Vitagraph Studios” at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

September 19 – Howard Crawford, bottle collector and researcher, will present “Bottles from Bay Shore, NY” at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

October 17 – Amy Folk, historian and researcher, will present “Murder and Mayhem on Long Island” at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments will be served
