Upcoming Programs
Throughout the year, the Bay Shore Historical Society sponsors educational programs of historic significance.  Programs are held on the third Thursday night of the month at 7:00 PM at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library  (except July).

January 18 – Presenter Bill Bleyer, journalist, historian, researcher, and author will speak about his recent book Fire Island Lighthouse: Long Island’s Welcoming Beacon at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

February 15 – Professor Neil Buffet will speak about “High School Environmental Activism on Long Island in the 1970’s”  at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

March 10  – Join Society members marching in the annual Bay Shore-Brightwaters St. Patrick’s Day Parade

March 15 – Researcher and historian Jack Smith will provide a visual and oral presentation about the “Gentlemen’s Driving Park in Terryville – horse racing including information about Horse Royalty ECHO”  at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

April 19 – Archivist and historian Bill Shelley will present “Movies filmed in Bay Shore in the early 1900’s – Part Two” at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

May 17 – TBA at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

May 28 – Join Society members marching in the annual Bay Shore-Brightwaters Memorial Day Parade

June 2 – Open House at the Gibson-Mack-Holt House located at 22 Maple Ave, Bay Shore from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. BBQ for members and guests 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

June 21 – Pastor Brandon K. Allen of the Bay Shore A.M.E. Church will speak about the “History and Influence of the Bethel A.M.E. Church in Bay Shore”  at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

July 19 – Annual Dinner at Captain Bill’s at 5:30 PM –  Reservations Required

August 16 – Brightwaters resident Ken Summers will speak about “Personal Recollections of being at the World Trade Center on 9/11/01”  at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

September 20 – Composer, pianist, and historian John Hodge will present “American History of the Early 1900’s as seen in Silent Film” at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments served

October 18 – Journalist, historian, researched and author Bill Bleyer will speak about his book “Long Island and the Civil War”  at the Ba Sshore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments will be served

November 15 – Janet Demarest will present “A Merry, Very Victorian Christmas”  at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library at 7:00 PM – All are welcome Free of Charge – Refreshments will be served

December 1 – Snowflake Sale and Bake Sale at the Gibson-Mack-Holt House located at 22 Maple Ave, Bay Shore from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

December 20 – Potluck Dinner at 5:30 PM at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library for members and guests
